2017 MIBFF BLACK MARKET

The Black Market, an initiative of the Fabienne Colas Foundation, presented with the support of Inis, in collaboration with the Montreal Black Film Festival and the Toronto Black Film Festival, presents a series of 10 conferences in Montreal on The workings of the film industry which will be the subject of discussions and exchanges with the aim of confronting ideas and facilitating the acquisition of knowledge.

The MIBFF wants to give young, aspiring professionals an opportunity to enrich their vision, establish a career path, and acquire tools through various specialized discussions, especially in a context where diversity is lacking on screens and behind the scenes across Quebec.

The panelists we selected are specialists who will share their personal and professional expertise on topics such as screenwriting, production, financing, and casting.

The conferences will provide easy-to-use tools and techniques that can be applied at every level of the industry. Current and upcoming filmmakers will have the opportunity to learn, meet people, and discuss and debate topics with other professionals.

The three-hour workshop format is open to the public and all sectors of the profession; it will not only give people plenty of time to present and delve deeper into subjects but will also open the floor to questions from the audience. Conferences will be live-streamed on Facebook and YouTube, and saved in the Festival’s archives on its YouTube channel.
